Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival at the Rochester Hills Museum

Rochester Hills Museum to host annual Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival October 11The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm will host its annual Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 11 from 10-4 p.m.  The presenting sponsor for this event is Genisys Credit Union with event sponsors including Noodles and the Village of Rochester Hills. Guests are invited to carve a pumpkin and place it on the stone walls surrounding the Museum property.  After the evening lighting, guests can take their pumpkin home.  The Museum is hoping to exceed our record of 1,011 pumpkins set in 2011!  Activities during the day include the Friends of Dinosaur Hill Pioneer Homestead and Playground, music, food, Guy Louis Family concert, Stoney Creek High School Drum line, Paint Creek Center for the Arts make-and-take art projects, John Angevine - The Pumpkin Carving Guy, a Rochester Hills Fire Truck and more!  In addition, an outdoor exhibit of scarecrows made by local organizations will be on display. Laura Cassar will read her children’s book, Night of 1,000 Pumpkin, based on this event.  Admission to the Pumpkin Festival is $ 7 per person and includes a pumpkin.  Kids under 2 years of age are free.   The Museum will provide stencils and carving tools but guests are encouraged to bring their own carving tools from home.

Evening lighting of the pumpkins runs from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and a financial donation in any amount is requested to support the Rochester Neighborhood House.

The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road, off Tienken between Rochester and Dequindre Roads.  Due to road construction on Tienken Road, guests can check out the Museum website for a detour map at www.rochesterhills.org/museum
