Auburn Hills, Michigan, [December 10, 2014] - Two financially strong Michigan credit unions, Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union of Grand Blanc and Genisys Credit Union of Auburn Hills, have announced their intent to combine through a merger. The credit union will continue to operate under the Genisys name and will have assets totaling more than $1.8 billion.
The merger has the unanimous support of both credit unions’ boards of directors and must be voted upon by Tri-Pointe members as the merging credit union in 2015.
“The timing is right for this merger,” said Mack McConnell, current President and CEO of Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union, who will remain with the credit union through the transition and then take retirement. “Tri-Pointe has been successful and will be even more so as a result of the merger. We selected Genisys as a merger partner because of their strong financial condition and commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs of members.”
“We are excited to have the opportunity to consolidate such a strong, member-focused credit union into Genisys,” said Jackie Buchanan, President and CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “We look forward to expanding the benefits available to our new members from Tri-Pointe and enhancing our relationships with them and the communities we will be serving. This merger is exciting and will be successful because of our shared values and the commitment both credit unions have to our members, employees and communities.”
Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union currently has three full-service branches in Genesee County in Fenton, Grand Blanc, and Clio, plus a full service branch in Vassar, Michigan. Genisys Credit Union operates twenty (24) branches, with sixteen in Oakland County, Michigan, five in other Michigan communities, two in Minnesota and one in Pennsylvania. Both credit unions are chartered and regulated by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.
Tri-Pointe members will benefit from expanded access to branches, shared branches, online and mobile banking options, call center service, and several additional services provided by Genisys including debit card rewards, mobile bill payment, and mobile deposit. Employee benefits include the promise that no jobs will be lost as a result of the merger and continued competitive compensation and benefits.
