Downtown Plymouth Michigan will be hosting the 33rd annual Plymouth Ice Festival on January 9th, 10th and 11th. The Plymouth Ice Festival has a long-standing history of being the largest free ice festival in Michigan and remains dedicated to the art of ice carving.
This year’s event will host the annual Collegiate Ice Carving competition presented by Genysis Credit Union. Student carving competitors will compete in one of two carving competitions. Saturday, January 10th will be the individual contest starting at 9am. Competitors will have 3 hours to carve their masterpieces. On Sunday, January 11th ice-carving competitors will take part in the team competition starting at 8am. Teammates will have to work together to build and sculpt their ice carving. Winners will be announced and receive trophies each day at 1pm.
Get your picture taken with some of the most amazing ice creations around! Make sure you see them all! There are a number of opportunities to take a “selfie” with some remarkable interactive ice sculptures as well!
Test your hockey skills at the Red Wings Experience brought to you by HAP. See how fast you can shoot a slap shot and see how accurate your wrist shot can be by joining the hockey fun in the Warming Station next to Kellogg Park.
Bring your family to learn how to ski at the Blue Care Network Cross-Country Skiing Zone presented by Sun and Snow. Seasoned professionals will explain the gear, help you get the equipment on and set you off on the cross-country skiing trail in Kellogg Park!
Join the crowds who watch the wildly popular Dueling Chainsaws on Saturday, January 10th at 7pm. Ice carvers are given 15 minutes, one block and their chainsaws to create some of the most amazing ice carvings.
Head over to the EG Nicks Party Lot on Forest Avenue for cold beer, drink specials, and live music presented by Labatt Blue and Svedka Vodka. The Party Lot has become the place to be for the evening crowd – along with an awesome ice bar where you can enjoy some Svedka Vodka specialties!
