(Rochester, MI--) Meadow Brook Theatre is pleased to announce the 2016-2017 Children Series Season, sponsored by Genisys Credit Union. Each year, Meadow Brook Theatre (MBT) presents a series of performances designed to introduce children to the wonder of theatre and the arts. Now in its 9th year, the Children’s Series offers six performances certain to entertain the entire family.
Guy Louis Monster Mash: Dracula Sings Elvis – Oct. 22 at 1pm
The Children’s Series kicks off this October with Guy Louis’ Halloween Monster Mash: Dracula Sings Elvis on Oct. 22 at 1pm. Special thanks to show sponsor Goldfish Swim School for sponsoring this exciting performance. Join Guy Louis for a rockin’ Halloween bash with a cast of happy ghouls and the best costumes this side of Transylvania. This is a family-friendly event for all ages. Costumes not required but encouraged. There will be a costume contest at the performance. Tickets for Guy Louis’ Monster Mash are $10 or $8 for groups of 8 or more.
Junie B. Jones Essential Survival Guide to School - Feb. 11, 2017 at 10am and 1pm
Next up will be Junie B. Jones Essential Survival Guide to School on Feb. 11, 2017 at 10am and 1pm. With a jillion tips, tricks and trip-ups, Junie B. shares her expertise and shows audiences that school is sometimes scary, sometimes super fun and always something to sing about. This is an all-new musical adventure based on Barbara Park’s popular book. Tickets for Junie B. Jones are $15 or $12 for groups of 8 or more.
Patrick Garner’s History’s Alive: Thomas Edison Inventor & Ben Franklin – March 3, 2017 at 10am
On March 3, 2017 at 10am history comes alive with Patrick Garner’s History’s Alive . First, Thomas Edison delivers and informal, fun-filled lecture about his life, his invention and the lessons those inventions taught him. Student volunteers join ‘The Wizard of Menlo Park’ onstage to act as his ‘Insomnia Squad.’ After that it’s Benjamin Franklin, American’s First Citizen. America’s favorite founding father comes to life to demonstrate how a life of self-discipline, inquiry and public service led to international fame and the gratitude of an entire nation. Tickets to History’s Alive are $15 or $12 for groups of 8 or more.
Anne of Green Gables – May 6, 2017 at 1pm
Join fans of all ages on May 6, 2017 at 1pm for Anne of Green Gables. This classic story tells the tale of Mathew and his sister Marilla who need a boy to help around their farm on Prince Edward Island. They are not expecting Anne Shirley, a vivacious orphan with a wild imagination and a breathless fascination to find a place she can call home. ArtsPower’s heartwarming musical, based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved novels, follows Anne on her journey to find the family she’s always wanted. Tickets to Anne of Green Gables are $15 or $12 for groups of 8 or more.
The Velveteen Rabbit– June 10, 2017 at 10am
Families can enjoy a choice of two shows on June 10, 2017. First, The Velveteen Rabbit hits the stage at 10am. This literary classic and beloved children’s story tells the heartwarming story of a stuffed rabbit and its quest to become real. The story celebrates unconditional love and real beauty with a strong anti-bullying message.
Alice in Wonderland – June 10, 2017 at 1pm
Also on June 10, 2017 join Alice on her journey into the rabbit hole for Alice in Wonderland. This show is packed with eccentric and fantastical characters who will take guests on an imaginative ride based on Lewis Carroll’s literary classic. Tickets to both The Velveteen Rabbit and Alice in Wonderland are $12 or $9 for groups of 8 or more. Purchase tickets to both shows for just $20.
