 Waterford Fire Safety

Tradition continues as Genisys Credit Union sponsors the Waterford Regional Fire Department’s Fire Safety Program, which teaches students the importance of fire prevention and safety with the aim of spreading the message to their families.

“Genisys is proud to sponsor a vital education program that impacts the lives of students, but also those surrounded by them,” said Jackie Buchanan, President / CEO of Genisys Credit Union.

The Fire Safety Program is a year-round effort operated by the Waterford Regional Fire Department. Throughout the duration of the program, the department brings their portable safety house to elementary schools in Pontiac and Waterford, to educate students on escape protocol in case of a fire as the safety house fills with theatrical smoke. Once done, students receive a brochure in order to create a fire safety plan with their family as well as precautionary checklists to help keep their households safe.

The Fire Educational Series is part of Genisys Credit Union’s ‘Making a Difference’ Campaign. The campaign aims to support and serve communities across Michigan, allowing the credit union to give back to the communities who have helped Genisys become one of the largest credit unions in the state of Michigan.

“Waterford Regional Fire Dept. would like to thank Genisys Credit Union for their continued support and generous donations,” said Kurt Vine, Waterford Regional Fire Prevention Education Coordinator,  “With this donation we are able to reach out to over 8,000 children a year and teach them of the importance of fire safety. Thank you to Genisys for helping us in keeping families in Pontiac, Waterford, and Lake Angelus safe.”

Genisys looks forward to another year of education success.
