Top Workplaces BadgeFor the 16th year, Genisys Credit Union has been named a Top 100 Workplace by the Detroit Free Press. This award recognizes companies that create a people-centered culture and uplift employee voices.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from the Detroit Free Press. This accolade is driven by the voices of our employees, who work together to shape a collaborative culture that supports one another, our members, and our communities,” said Jackie Buchanan, President and CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “My heartfelt thank you to our team; this recognition is a testament to all of you.”

The Detroit Free Press partnered with Energage, an employee research and consulting firm, to identify honorees based on employee opinion surveys. The survey asks employees to critique their workplace on topics related to employee engagement, culture, and benefits. Employers are ranked among groups of similar size.

To cultivate their workforce, the credit union ensures the well-being of their employees by offering: professional development opportunities, recognition programs, flexible work arrangements, 401k matching, low cost health care plans, mental health services, and more. Their team extends the same compassion into the member experience and community interactions, which is reflected in the credit union’s accomplishments throughout 2023.

The credit union’s dedication to operating a sound financial foundation lets them be a confident partner for their members and communities in both times of economic uncertainty and prosperity. With a year marked by inflationary pressures, Genisys remained unwavering in their commitment to their members.

A big part of their member giveback in 2023 came in the form of a higher annual percentage yield (APY) of 5.25% for their Genius High Yield Checking. In addition, they also rewarded members with higher savings and certificate rates, earning members over $61 million in savings dividends.

The credit union understands the power and importance of providing tailored services. Each day they work to find solutions for their members that best work in their financial circumstances; empowering their members to make informed decisions to safeguard their financial well-being in the midst of economic challenges and opportunities. This approach, combined with lower-rate loan options, saved their members millions of dollars when they financed with the credit union.

Beyond their financial services, Genisys remains committed to the communities they serve. Throughout 2023, they actively supported local initiatives through event sponsorships, volunteering, and non-profit support. This support included: cleaning 12 parks, waterways, and cemeteries in their communities in Michigan and Minnesota; helping Michigan’s Oakland County Sheriff’s Department collect over 4,000 coats to give away to those in need at no cost; supported a matching campaign with The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan totaling over $50,000 raised; purchased over 2,000 turkeys for families at Pontiac based Lighthouse of Michigan to have a Thanksgiving dinner; and so much more. The credit union extends their gratitude to their staff and members for making this support possible and their communities for embracing the partnership.

As Genisys concludes 2023, they look forward to serving you in a prosperous and plentiful new year; driving forward the success laid by their dedicated team, loyal members, and supportive communities.
